The Polo Cartario di Maina Inferiore is a fascinating production complex transformed into an exhibition and museum venue. Its interior traces the stages in the history of paper production from its origins to the 20th century, through an evocative tour that from the 16th-century core of the factory, in which machinery and equipment characteristic of paper production from the 15th to the 18th century are reproduced, winds its way through the spacious upper rooms, dedicated to the evolution of production in the early stages of the Industrial Revolution.
Also on display are artifacts from archaeological excavations conducted in the Valley, some watermarks produced between the 16th and 18th centuries, and a collection of books printed by the Paganini, illustrious printers with workshops in Toscolano and Venice in the first half of the 16th century.
The visit ends with a room devoted to vintage postcards donated by Andrea Derossi.
